Kindle Version 2.5 Overview

The 2.5 software update for Kindle and Kindle DX is coming soon. We are rolling out the new software update to a limited group of Kindle users and plan a broad release in late May 2010. Check back here for updates on the release schedule.

Here’s a list of the coming enhancements:

Collections: Organize your books and documents into one or more collections.

PDF Pan and Zoom: Zoom into PDFs and pan around to easily view small print and detailed tables or graphics.

Password Protection: Password protect your Kindle when you’re not using it.

More Fonts & Improved Clarity: Enjoy two new larger font sizes and sharper fonts for an even more comfortable reading experience.

Facebook & Twitter Posts: Share book passages with friends on Facebook and Twitter directly from your Kindle.

Popular Highlights: See what the Kindle community thinks are the most interesting passages in the books you’re reading.

Come on Carol. It doesn’t matter how many straws you reach for you are going to come up a little short when you try to compare yourself to Google. Google is an unstoppable machine. Now I must come clean and tell you that I am a HUGE Google fan. Now they had a few mishaps lately  ahem “Buzz”. but soon recovered and came back even stronger.

Yahoo chief Carol Bartz sees trouble for Google

Google will have “a problem” if it does not diversify its business, the head of Yahoo has told BBC News.

Carol Bartz said that Google would have to “do a lot more than search” and suggested that it would have to “grow a company the size of Yahoo every year”.

Ms Bartz made the comments when asked if Yahoo’s sprawling network of sites and services had a defined brand image.

Here at IJWtFI, we like computers. We like computer stuff. We also don’t like Apple, for many reasons. Until the rise to stardom in 2000-2002, Apple lurked in the shadows, plotting its nefarious technological revolution, waiting for the right time to attack. The time has come. Apple has managed possibly the greatest marketing campaign in history, in which its customers are entranced by Apple’s perfection and innovation and inspired to be overly pretentious *ssholes.  It also helps that the media is utterly infatuated with the company. Fact: If you own an Apple, you automatically gain at least 50 IQ points and suddenly the smell of your own farts becomes strangely pleasant and addictively sweet.

All new product launches achieve unprecedented turnouts. Why?! It doesn’t make sense. I certainly imagine that the fanboys wait in line just to say they waited at the feet of Steve Jobs. That’s the only reason.

Granted, its products are innovative. The iPod was innovative, the iPhone was innovative, but the manner of upgrades/updates, pricing, and marketing are only misleading and deceptive for consumers, yet somehow everyone adores the punishment. It’s like an abusive relationship. Apple’s “planned obsolescence” or “forced upgrades” are glorified when they should be damned.

Wow. I would have to agree with everything in this post. IJWTFI hit the nail square on the head. What gets me is how can these Mac Drones fit in when such a small percentage of tech users in the world use any kind of Apple device? I got news for ya Fanbois. Steve Jobs is not the second coming of Christ!!.

After commentsHere’s my talk to Jeff Pulver’s 140Conf today on comments and interactivity, in which I argue that comments are an insult because they come only after media think they’re done creating a product, which they then allow the public to react to.I defended comments on news sites for many years. But I think we have to move past them to true collaboration, which is more respectful and productive. There is no easy solution for civility, not identity or rating systems.

Anyway I just thought this was quite interesting that they seemed to have gone back and used what was presumably a really successful ad campaign for  Windows 95. Cuteness sells.

The whole planet” the Earth” is a wonderful original with its wonders and specialities, which cannot be replaced and copied. It is our home. It used to be the Paradise and the magic place of the first people. Nowadays the situation is quite different. That is why there are many people who long for some changes of the situation. Despite of that you can still find beautiful places on the Earth even these days, which give us some hope that the Earth will never be destroyed and people will try to look after their home as much as they can. My “Panoramatta” will remind the mountain lovers the fact who is hidden behind all of that. In the difference with my photos, in reality they are the “originals” of the very intelligent “Creator” whom I admire myself and I always return back to “His” mountains with my great respect. With the hope to find and catch something what all the people without any difference have longed for. At least for a very short moment to see “the Lost Paradise”, which will be recorded and preserved thanks to the photographs and techniques.
